Colour Cordination

Here are two photographs taken at recent events. The first under the wisteria and the second over the tulips

I was happy to see the wisteria, I was delighted to see the lady wearing the same colour vest and matching walking stick.

and thanks to the rain for providing this opportunity.

The tulips alone are nicely coordinated, but when the rain came, so did the umbrella.

The King’s Well

The time has come to start talking about a garden in Yamanashi, Japan that will open in 2010. Planning started in 2006. I have made a small slide show as an introduction. Click here. Work is ongoing to make a garden inspired by my childhood.

Autumn Reflection in Japan

When you live in Japan, one becomes extremely aware of the four seasons. Autumn welcomes winter, which is a very cold time filled with beautiful sunny days. The colour that welcomes winter warms our heart with happiness and serenity.

Reflections

I was working in Kasumigaseki in the centre of Tokyo  to examine the lawns for an upcoming project, but I was more interested in the reflections of all the high buildings around me which centred on a very strange piece of art. However, the closer I got to it, my eyes were attracted not by the art, but by the reflections in the art.

I was fascinated how the reflection broke the monotonous straight lines, even though the art itself it also straight.

An Autumn Morning in Hakone National Park

It had been raining for several days in Hakone so this morning everything looked fresh and clean. Autumn has arrived, but another few days are needed to see the best colours. There are no autumn colours in my photographs though.

It was difficult to decide my favorite picture of Fuji san today, so please choose your own.

I’ve got my eye on You!

From a distance it looked like just another fallen houno ki leaf, but when I got closer I saw this eye looking at me! The toad seemed quite happy as I put my camera up against his face and his look reminded me of a famous TV policeman, who used to say “Ello, ello, ello, what ave we got ere?” Which could mean, “What is this?”

This is the biggest toad Ihave ever seen in Japan.

Approaching Autumn

Friends often ask me, “When is the best season to visit Japan?” It’s easy to answer them. “Don’t come in the summer!”

Autumn is beautiful in England. The colours change slowly and seems to last an eternity. It’s one of the best times to take scenery photographs.

Autumn in Japan is my favourite season, but the leaves change colour quickly and fall too soon.
